Nigerian Neon Green Emerald

Emerald is the green member of the beryl mineral family. Its fine intense green color is due to a trace of chromium or vanadium replacing the aluminium in the Beryl structure.The chromium content of the Nigerian Emerald is mostly on the low side. This explains why most Nigerian emeralds are neon green in color. As characteristics of emerald in general, Nigerian emerald are hardly free of inclusions. The Hardness is 7.5 to 8.0; Refracture index = 1.565 -1.602; Density = 2.67 – 2.78. The Sizes are from 0.5g up.
