Nigerian Amethyst

Amethyst is a member of the Quartz family. It is the most highly valued stone in the quartz group. Its Hardness is 7; the Density is 2.65 while the Refractive index is 1.54 to 1.553. The color of the Nigerian Amethyst ranges from medium purple to deep purple, and purple with red flashes. Sizes are selected from 3.0g and bigger to give excellent yield when faceted.
